From the vault of memories...

So, sometimes people talk about how dreams are symbolic of something that our subconscious mind wants to tell us. I don't know about you, but I think that may be true in certain cases, though I don't think that all the supposedly "universal" symbols are accurate for every person. One dream may mean one thing to one person, while the same dream means something different to someone else. That's what I think, anyway.

Also, random thought, if dreams are symbolic, what are my dreams telling me? o.O

I will say that I did have one dream that seemed extremely symbolic. If I could figure out how to write a ballad, this might be the perfect base for one.

Anyway, this dream started out in a sort of fantasy type of world, but it had an almost Victorian feel to it. Gentlemen and ladies and courts and counts and things like that. I was part of the ruling house in this city, and I was betrothed to the love of my life (who in the dream was Nil, my current boyfriend at the time). Everyone in the city was gathering at the town square for a sort of festival. It seemed to be some sort of joyous event, and for such special occasions we had a special amphitheater dug into the ground. (I suppose that the city held many festivals and plays in order to justify having a permanent amphitheater.)

Nil and I were having a wonderful time enjoying the festivities, and it seemed like nothing could go wrong. (Famous last words) Suddenly arose a great wind and dark smoke began rising from the amphitheater stage. Maniacal laughter rang throughout the town square as a black portal opened up from the stage and giant demons began pouring out into the theater and terrorized the crowd! The man on the stage apparently had a grudge against my family and had made a pact with the demons in order to use them to destroy us completely from the face of the earth. The beasts were just barreling down on me and my family when Nil somehow found a loophole in the evil man's pact and sacrificed himself to save us. To save me.

That's right. The love of my life, my beloved, was dead.

I blamed myself for his death, but my family and I had to leave our city home in haste. While the evil man had not succeeded in his venture to destroy my family, he did provide enough chaos for other rebels to stage a coup and run us out of our home. We fled to our country home (which again, looked like my old house in Indiana), where Nil and I had spent many of our days while we were courting.

I was walking through the house, sort of lost in grief. Several guards were outside, searching for traps that might have been placed there in preparation for the coup. One man came up to me, saying that he didn't find anything unusual in the front garden, except for something that had apparently been left for me. I remembered that my beloved was very good at making little contraptions and often left little surprises for me, and I had a small memory of him doing something out in the front garden, though he had not let me see what exactly it was at the time. Sometimes he even left scavenger hunts. It was possible that he had left one for me and that I had not found it yet.

I went out to the front garden and sat on the bench that the guard had told me about. Suddenly a gorgeous rose popped out from underneath the seat, with words written on the petals. The words were an excerpt from my favorite poem, as well as a small note telling that he had a gift for me, but I must find it. I was overjoyed because I missed him so much. It was like having one last message from him. Suddenly the rain began to fall, washing the words on the rose away. I scrambled to find a pen and somewhere to write down the words before they were gone forever, but I was only able to copy down a small portion of the words on the rose petals before the words had disappeared forever.

I was heartbroken, and sat clutching the paper with the last bits I was able to copy down sobbing.

The dream shifted to the city. The place was in ruin, and fires still smoldered all throughout the town. The only place still completely intact was my family's house, now overtaken by the traitors who ran us out. I sat in the shadows of an alleyway, watching the house closely. There were a few other people with me, there with the intent of somehow spying on our enemies and taking them out, but I was there for another reason. The words on the rose seemed to indicate that I needed to find the book with my favorite poem in it in order to find the next clue in his scavenger hunt. In my grief I was desperate to finish the last scavenger hunt he had left for me, and I was not about to let a military coup stop me from doing so.

I knew that the book I needed was in the library, so carefully, so as to not draw suspicion to myself, I sneaked into the house and made my way there. When I arrived there, the library was in disarray, and deep shadows made it difficult to tell if I was alone in the place or not. The books were mostly untouched, so in time I was able to find the book I was looking for. Unfortunately I was not able to sit and read it there, because people were coming, and I knew that I would be recognized and captured if I was caught.

Also, most regrettably, the dream ended there, so I don't know where the next clue would have taken me, or if I even made it out unscathed from the house or not. The thought had crossed my mind that my beloved might not have even had the chance to finish the scavenger hunt, and my hunting would have been for naught. I really hope that isn't the case, though, because finding that scavenger hunt gave me so much hope. I mean...I felt as though my soul was being crushed and twisted until it would shatter because I was in so much despair, and finding the little things left behind by Nil made it feel like he wasn't completely gone.

I'm a mystic in a wolf-pack!

Latest dream.

I was part of a wolf-pack. Yes, that's right, part of a pack of wolves. Now, for some reason, in spite of being wolves, we all lived around my old house in Indiana and looked exactly like humans. Perhaps we all appeared human to each other and not to everyone else?

Apparently I had mystic powers of some kind as well, but I didn't know entirely how to use them quite yet...and yet I had been recently appointed the Pack Healer, because the one before couldn't do it anymore. Either my predecessor was dead or missing or was too old. Probably missing or dead because I didn't have anyone to teach me what I was supposed to do!

I was spending most of my time figuring out how to use my powers and the mystic items left behind by the guy before me. I had a small grasp of my powers and could use them to relieve pain and heal minor injuries. With concentration my powers manifested themselves as sort of glowing or sparkling bands in my hands, which I would then run over the injured person to let my powers do their thing. The mystic item thing I was dealing with most in my dream looked like some sort of duct tape, except that it glowed a bright golden light. The only problem was that I was almost out of the stuff, so I went to the store to buy a sort of translucent gold tape for the base of the mystic item-ness. I hadn't quite figured out entirely how to get it to glow like the old tape did, which turned out to be somewhat of a problem because there was a gathering of the pack, for ceremonial purposes.

The gathering was in the back yard of my old house in Indiana, and mostly involved the female members of the pack. I looked back at the house, and through the glass doors I could see my family (The human ones!) and some house guests watching us. The light coming from the house was...purple, and they seemed to be drinking and having some sort of party. I think that this was a gathering of a couple of packs because I found a bunch of healing items laying around the circle of wolves, including mystic duct tape that was clear and glowed a sort of white-silver light.

All in all, this was certainly an interesting dream. Yet another dream that took place in my old house. It seems that my subconscious mind still thinks of that place as home.

A couple of dreams

So, I've got a couple of dreams to talk about this time. I can't remember too much so they'll be rather short, but at least they're there, yes?

:)

So my dream from two nights ago could very well be classified as a nightmare. I was back in my old house in Indiana, which has lately become a constant for many of my dreams. That in it of itself is...mildly interesting, but in this dream I had a sort of...crazy stalker? It was really weird. The guy was practically living in the house, all to drive me crazy. The main bits I can remember are that my sister and I were taking a bath together (because we were little kids again?), and I suddenly felt a sharp poke in my side! I turned around and there was the creeper's face peering at me through a hole he had drilled into the side of the tub! (I don't know what he was doing!)

I screamed and demanded that my sister call the police on the guy, but apparently she did not, because the next day I walked into my bedroom to find the creeper in there. Commence the running and screaming.

o_o

And....I don't get it either.

The second dream didn't make too much sense either. I spent most of my time being chased by soldiers in futuristic uniforms. It almost looked like they were robots. For all I know, they were cyborgs with lasers instead of arms.

Anyway, you get the idea.

I remember a brief scene of being chased across the wilderness and diving into a river which apparently disappeared underground and went through a cave system which emptied out into a waterfall on the side of a cliff. Thankfully I was able to grab the side of the cliff at the mouth of the waterfall before I fell to my doom, but the soldiers were waiting for me in their hovercraft. Panicking, I dived back into the cliff-side caves to try to escape from them.

I was running through these caves where other people apparently lived their day-to-day lives. It was almost like a small village lived in these caves. Perhaps they were a rebel base or something.

As I was running I was scattering these seeds in front of doorways, and somehow something I did caused the seeds to sprout and grow like crazy, creating this thick wall of huge vines that the cyborg soldiers had to get through. I assume I was doing this to buy some time to figure out what to do next.

I entered this larger room, tossing seeds behind me, and the other people in the room pushed a large rock in front of the door and ever-growing wall of plants. I talked with the rebels for a little bit, but they cyborgs broke into the room before I could finish the conversation. I felt horrible because I realized that I could have created a plant wall on our side of the rock to buy us just a little more time to plan or escape, but I hadn't and it was too late. The soldiers swarmed into the room, looking very menacing and intimidating in their black armor and red glowing eyes, as well as the small laser cannon mounted on their left arms.

Alarm went off, so I had absolutely no idea why these people were chasing me (I get the sense that they were from the government), if I had been able to escape, who the people were I was with, or basically anything else pertinent to a possible story. It was rather terrifying, though. Those soldiers were scary!

Acrobatic half-lions. o.O

This is the latest dream to add to the possible story piles.

In this dream I was a half-lion. Specifically, sort of like a cat person that you would see in certain types of manga or anime, just that the "cat" part was lioness. I was an acrobat of sorts, travelling with another half-lion, a dear friend named Koku. We were...servants? slaves? I'm not sure. But Koku had been mistreated very badly by his former master. Somehow we had left our former masters, whether we ran or were released, I'm not sure.

At any rate, we reached a certain part of the forest where a mysterious glyph was inscribed on the ground. I didn't know what it was for, but Koku did, and asked me to go nearer to it. It suddenly started glowing and part of the ground sank, revealing a set of steps and a door, all with outlines glowing with purple light. (Koku was delighted! Apparently he had not been able to open the door before, and discovered that there was something special about me that caused the glyph to react.) We walked down the steps, and walked through the door. When we emerged we were in a totally different place, where a circus was setting up. The door slammed shut behind us, alarming us greatly. We went back to try to open the door again, but it stayed shut.

Suddenly a huge full-blooded lion bounded towards us from behind, looking for all the world as if it was about to pounce on and devour us. Koku moved in front to defend me, but we both knew we would be eaten in a second. See, even though we were part lion and were stronger, faster, and more agile than most humans, we were not as strong or as fast as a lion. Our teeth and claws weren't even as large.

Just as sudden as the lion appeared, it backed away, and a lion tamer appeared from behind the lion, laughing jovially and welcoming us to the circus. He took us to the ring master, and lo and behold, it was a man who had been our very first master! Raised us from the time we were infants! He had to let us go some time ago because Koku had dropped me and I had been injured while practicing my acrobatics. The circus just couldn't afford to keep us at that time, but in the time that Koku and I were away the circus had suddenly become more popular, and thus more profitable.

At any rate, I didn't have any hard feelings towards my former first master, because he had treated us well, and the circus had felt like home. I couldn't say the same for Koku, but he had been so distant from me that I had a difficult time telling one way or another. The ring master had to see someone else, so we went into a waiting area, which just happened to include some practice acrobatic equipment. I tried to see if I still had any of my old skills by jumping on them and found that I was just as graceful as ever.

Then, tired of waiting I back to see the ringmaster who was still in his meeting. The man he was speaking with was huge, almost like a body builder, and he looked incredibly mean. He certainly was not happy to see me there, though I didn't know why. The ringmaster was terrified of him.

Anyway, my dream ended around there. :)

Nap Dreams

So, I slept so much today that I even got a very short dream while I was taking a nap today!

In this dream I was with a lot of people riding an open-aired elevator up the side of a mountain. We were on our way to deal with a villain of some sort or another, but there was a woman standing over us threateningly, all of us were sitting on the ground looking up at her. The woman suddenly sent balls of energy at us, which I assume would hurt us and knock us off the elevator (there's no such thing as a safety rail!).

I suddenly reached out and absorbed the energy, and this somehow gave me power. White feathery wings sprouted from my back, and I suddenly had a sense that a power within myself had awakened. I was called Avatar.

The scene shifted into a sort of apartment built deep in the mountain. The villain was a young man with red hair and apparently a lot of financial influence and electronic influence. For some reason, he said that if I attacked him, he would hit me where it hurt most: my gaming reputation. Apparently I spent a great deal of time in arcades and other places building my reputation, but with one press of a button he could somehow erase any and all records of me being there. To prove that he wasn't bluffing, he fulfilled his promise at one of my favorite arcades. All the work I had put into that place was suddenly gone.

I suddenly saw red, attacked, and was trying to slam the guy's head to the floor, but my strength was leaving me, and I was growing weaker by the second.

And then my phone alarm goes off and I awaken. :P

Masters, slaves, and warriors

So I had an interesting dream last night that didn't make too much sense to me.

First of all, I apparently lived in this city/castle/huge complex-type-place that was ruled by a panel of...dominants, I guess? The social system had two main classes, the dominants and the slaves. (Now, get your mind out of the gutter because it wasn't sexual. GET IT OUT! NOW!!!) The dominants were basically looking out for the needs of the slaves while the slaves served their masters in return. There were certain masters that had more status than others, and they were the ones who ruled over the city/castle/huge complex-type-place. I was the slave of one of these ruling dominants, who seemed to be looking out for the needs of the people he watched over. I was his favorite, so I accompanied him everywhere and supported him when he needed it. I apparently needed extra protection because I wasn't fully human? (Something about me lent me super-strength and ninja-type speed.)

Anyway, the other ruling dominants were basically using the slaves for their own interests rather than looking out for them as they were meant to do. My master disagreed with them, and unfortunately the other dominants decided that he needed to be...punished, gotten rid of, something. They sent soldiers after him, and I helped him escape to his home and secured the doors. I had to physically hold the front doors closed as he was figuring out what to do next. The doors were getting pounded, but I was able to hold them closed (super-strength, if you remember)...until the soldiers started using sharp objects like swords to cut through the doors themselves. My master basically ordered me to escape because I wasn't safe anymore and wouldn't be in the complex because of how close I was to him.

So I ran. I hid for a while in the general slave's quarters and then escaped outside of the complex. In the time I was gone the other slaves started rising up and having their own sort of resistance going on. Some of them became warriors in their own right, and then fought through a series of traps and tests to see the ruling dominants. The rulers decreed that they would not listen to the slaves's demands unless I was personally there to withstand the tests they put before me. They basically wanted me to be the champion for the slaves. If I succeeded, the slaves would be set free, so to speak. If I failed, things would be all the worse for them, not to mention I'd be dead.

So the group went outside the complex and found me. Apparently I became a warrior myself while I was outside, which later turned out to be rather handy. So we went back to see the ruling dominants. We went through the same tests that the group of slaves had gone through originally (which for some reason included sniffing and identifying the plant "nightshade") until we made it back to the dominant's ruling chamber.

I stood before them with two swords on my belt and wearing some kind of leather armor (which actually covered me, unlike silly Final Fantasy armor). The rulers sat on a sort of bench, sort of like a judge's bench, raised high above me and the other slaves, so while we were looking up a the rulers, they sort of glowered down at us. My master was not with them.

The last thing I remember is the dominants saying that now was the time to test me. I objected since we had gone through a battery of tests already just to get there. The dominants said that those tests were to see if we were worthy to stand before them to challenge them. These new tests were to see if our words would be worthy to listen to. Suddenly they ordered their soldiers to attack us, though mostly me, because, basically, they didn't like me. Considering my personal connection with the dominant who tried to stand against them and my incredible escape inspiring the other slaves to start rebelling against their rule and I wasn't fully human, I have no idea why they would hate me so. I remember unsheathing my swords to begin battle.

Unfortunately my dream ended there, so I don't know for sure how the testing ended or even if my beloved former master was still alive. It was a rather strange dream, indeed.
